Goebbert’s Pumpkin Patch
Where Fall Family Memories Begin
When you think of fall in Chicagoland, there’s no place quite like our Goebbert’s pumpkin patch: a family tradition where the fields glow orange and every visit turns into a memory you’ll want to frame. Visit us at Goebbert’s Farm & Garden Center in South Barrington and make your perfect pick right in the heart of the patch.
Over 20 Varieties in Our Pumpkin Patch
We proudly grow over 20 different pumpkin varieties in the pumpkin patch each season, so you can find exactly what you imagined: classic oranges, creamy whites, striped heirlooms, and fabulously warty textures. Two guest favorites are Kratos for its sturdy stem and smooth carving surface and Olympus for its round, picture-perfect shape. If you’re planning a full day, our Fall Festival brings the pumpkin patch to life with attractions, treats, and farm adventures.
Looking for decorating inspiration? Mix tall-and-skinny pumpkins with short-and-round for porch depth; layer whites, blues, and bumpy gourds for texture. If you’re curious about farm traditions, you’ll love reading our story on the About Goebbert’s page as you plan your visit.
How to Choose the Perfect Pumpkin
There’s no single “right” pumpkin. Your best pick is the one that makes you smile. Still, a few expert tips help:
- Shape matters: Tall-and-skinny pumpkins are great for character carvings; short-and-round ones make classic Jack-o’-lanterns.
- Check the stem: A sturdy, well-attached stem usually signals a healthy pumpkin that lasts longer.
- Avoid soft spots: Softness can indicate it’s past prime; choose firm skins with even color.
- Plan your purpose: Decorating, carving, or cooking. We’ll point you to the right variety.
Love roasted seeds? Any pumpkin works. Smaller pumpkins bring smaller, extra-crispy seeds; large pumpkins deliver bigger, heartier bites. For a full fall day after picking, treat yourself to warm donuts at the General Store and swing by popular attractions like the Corn Box before sunset.

More Than Just a Pumpkin Patch
Our pumpkin patch is the heart of autumn, but the day doesn’t end there.
Climb aboard a wagon ride through the fields, discover gentle giants in the Giraffe Barn, and let kids dig, climb, and laugh in the Little Farmer’s Play Yard. Between stops, our General Store has treats to refuel the fun: yes, apple cider donuts made fresh.
Planning your outing is easy with our map of the farm. If you’re new to Goebbert’s, our About page shares how a roadside stand became a beloved destination where the pumpkin patch is a rite of fall.

Plan Your Visit to the Pumpkin Patch
The pumpkin patch opens with our Fall Festival and runs through peak autumn. We’re an easy drive from Chicago and the northwest suburbs. Bring friends, family, and your love of crisp air and color.
We are open daily 9am to 6pm through November 1, rain or shine, and tickets are not sold after 5:30pm. Weekday admission is $20 and weekends are $27, or $24 when you buy online. Prices are before the 45 cent village amusement tax, parking is free, and pets stay home. See what a ticket includes and plan your day with the map of the farm.
Quick tip: Weekdays feel quieter for those who want extra time in the patch; weekends buzz with energy, live smiles, and the sweetest donut aromas drifting from our bakery.
