Where Can I Pet a Giraffe?

Right Here in South Barrington!

“Where can I pet a giraffe?” It sounds like a question with a far-off answer: maybe a big-city zoo, or even a bucket-list safari. But here’s the fun twist: you don’t have to go anywhere exotic. The chance to meet and hand-feed one of these gentle giants is waiting for you right here in South Barrington at Goebbert’s Farm & Garden Center.

Giraffes and Giggles: Memories Made on the Farm

Every fall, our farm transforms into a place where everyday moments turn into lifelong memories. Picture your kids standing eye-to-eye with a giraffe, reaching out with a snack, and giggling as that long, careful tongue curls around their hand. That’s the kind of memory you’ll be talking about for years.

Goebbert’s Fall Festival: A Tradition Since 1948

We’ve been a family tradition for generations: ever since George Goebbert first sold produce at a roadside stand back in 1948. Over the years, that little stand grew into the Fall Festival you know today. From early September through Halloween, our farm is alive with pumpkins, wagon rides, apple cider donuts, and yes… a giraffe.

Plenty of farms have pumpkins. Only Goebbert’s has Happy Jack the giant pumpkin, a pumpkin-eating dinosaur, and the chance to meet a giraffe at eye level.

Step Into Animal Land

Animal Land is where the magic happens. Families stroll past goats, pigs, and chickens: then suddenly, you spot something unexpected. A zebra. A kangaroo. A camel named Charlie offering rides. And finally, the tallest resident of them all: our giraffe.

Inside the Giraffe Barn, you’ll meet this graceful giant up close. The barn is built so even the littlest visitors can feed a giraffe safely. The look on a child’s face when a giraffe leans in for a snack is priceless. It’s part awe, part joy, and 100% photo-worthy.

More Than Just Giraffes

While the giraffe may steal the show, Animal Land is full of surprises. Here are a few favorites you’ll meet along the way.

We come every year to do pumpkin shopping for Halloween. They also sell amazing apple cider. And everyone there is very friendly. They also have camels and a giraffe if you can believe it
