Explore the Twists and Turns of Goebbert’s Corn Stalk Maze
If there’s one thing we love about autumn at Goebbert’s, it’s how our Corn Stalk Maze turns a simple stroll into a mini-adventure. For over 30 years, it’s been a Fall Festival staple—filled with giggles from kids, friendly competition between parents, and plenty of “left or right?” debates.
Quick Maze Facts
- Size: 2 acres – New layout every year!
- Time to Complete: Around 15 minutes
- Best For: Families, kids, and the young at heart
A Two-Acre Playground of Corn
Spanning two full acres, our maze starts taking shape in summer when the corn is young and green. We cut the winding paths early, then let the stalks shoot up into towering walls of gold and green by September. We’ve never counted every stalk (that would take forever), but a 2-acre corn maze typically contains around 75,000 corn stalks—plenty to keep you guessing at every turn!
A New Pattern Every Year
We like to keep you on your toes, so our maze layout changes annually. There’s no elaborate theme—just a fresh design of twists, turns, and dead ends to challenge both first-time visitors and seasoned maze pros.
The Maze Experience
On average, you’ll spend about 15 minutes finding your way through. Some families take it slow, letting kids lead and enjoying the scenery. Others turn it into an all-out race—kids versus parents is a popular matchup (and yes, the kids often win).
For those wondering, no, you won’t get lost in the maze until Halloween is over. The size is just right for exploration without stress. At worst, you’ll loop back and share a laugh before heading to our bakery for apple cider donuts.
All Ages Welcome—With a Few Tips
The maze is suitable for all ages. Families sometimes push strollers through, though the ground is a bit uneven. If you’re not a steady walker, you may prefer to cheer from the sidelines. Either way, kids especially love the thrill of outsmarting the maze’s tricky turns.
Behind the Scenes: How We Make the Maze
Every year starts the same way—carefully cutting the path while the corn is still short. As summer goes on, the stalks grow sky-high, transforming the field into the leafy adventure you see in the fall. Over the decades, the maze’s location has shifted around the farm, but its purpose has always been the same: to give families a place to make memories together.
